The P-16 Council promotes success across the educational continuum from preschool to college (P-16) to create a better educated community that is equipped to live, learn, and work in a changing world.

To achieve this, we are working to foster communication and collaboration among business, civic, and educational institutions and organizations.

The P–16 Council, facilitated by Citizens for Educational Excellence and the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi College of Education, focuses on improving continuity throughout the educational continuum. We are working with the faculty and staff of high schools and colleges, the community, and families to help promote post-secondary education as a goal for all students.

The Ready4 College & Career Conference, held November 16, 2011 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, helped high school seniors from around the Coastal Bend learn about their options and opportunities after high school.

The P–16 Regional Council wants to insure that all students have a goal and a plan for the day after graduation. We invited undecided high school seniors to explore the many opportunities available to them in this area, such as two year colleges, four year colleges, certification programs, workforce programs, and the military. At the end of the day the students made a commitment as to their future plans. In the spring, the P–16 Regional Council will follow up with them to provide any assistance they may need.
